I rolled into Smog & Registration today (Saturday) at 1:30PM with a car I needed to smog, register, and title transfer.  Having never done these things outside of an actual DMV office, I fully expected to spend at least an hour or two dealing with the paperwork and whatnot. I left before 2:00PM with my interim title and reg sticker in hand. I'm sorry I didn't catch the name of the proprietor, but he was incredibly helpful and friendly with all the paperwork and explaining the fees.  Even included the $5 discount for the coupon from his website I couldn't print because I was too cheap to refill my inkjet printer. So if you dread going to the DMV and standing in lines, give this place a shot and support local small business.

I've been coming here since my first smog test was required about 6 years ago.  Steve, the owner is awesome.  It's never taken me more than 40 min to get in and out, even during busy times.  He always honors his $5.00 off coupon from their website and charges a good rate.  I tell all my friends to go here, and they listen to me because I'm a car guy.  The one person who didn't listen to me went to another place at PCH near Palos Verdes, sat there for 2.5hrs, and got charged $40 more than what I pay.  My typical price has been around $50 which is among the lowest around.  Keep in mind tho your rate will vary by your car, service etc.  He offers full service registration and stickers etc for extra but I've never taken advantage of it. One more note, this shop DOES HAVE the new "STAR Registration" deal.  I panicked when I didn't see it on the website but I guess they haven't added that to the website yet. Found this place and so I packed my backpack with a book or so to help me kill time as I waited for the smog to be done. To my surprise though this place isn't like most other places that make you wait half a day to do a quick smog which is why I brought all my things to help me pass the time. He not only did the smog but renewed my registration all in under 30 minutes but it felt more like I was in and out sooner than that. Will definitely be coming back!

Completely overwhelmed single mom of twin toddlers with a laundry list of things to do with my car. I actually had an appointment with the garage next door, they were running behind and suggested I try here. From the other yelper's description, I believe the gent who helped me was Steve, he's the head honcho over there anyway..He was a lifesaver! It is so stressful taking your car in when you have to taxi home with your kiddos (which is what I originally expected). He completed my Smog, oil change and fuse inspection in just over half an hour. I was able to wait in the office area which had a vending machine, children's books, a rest room and a TV! Jackpot!! Not to mention, my kids really took to him which says a lot about his personality. He helped me get the kiddos in and out of the car and took time to pay attention to them! I mean what mechanic makes sure your kids are safely buckled in before you drive off?  I'd give 6 stars if I could. Price was fair too. I joked about asking him to babysit when he finished work...still have my fingers crossed he he!

A very good experience. Don't be turned off by the busy parking situation. A small area for so much business. The smog shop shares parking space with other businesses an it is crowded. But, park wherever you can, go to office and they'll take care of the rest. Fast, efficient. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Steve was very attentive.

Quick. Same price for every car. No luxury or suv BS charges. No hidden fees. During my most recent smog, the owner fixed a non-communication with the OBC by replacing a blown fuse, then continued with the test. Other places would have failed me due to noncommunication and sent me in my way. He knew exactly how to fix the issue and get me through the test! Amazing service!

Been going to these guys for almost 10 years for both our cars. We've moved 20 minutes away, but not going anywhere else but these guys for a smog. STAR certified I'm glad to say. Excellent service and honest owner. Gave me free advice several times on how to fix some mechanical issues without spending much money. He could have easily charged me for the repair himself. Glad they've grown their business since I first visited.

I think I just found a new Smog Check spot! A nice Korean man helped me (think his name was Steve) and I was in and out of this place in 15 mins flat! They were friendly and helpful and started working on my car right away. They were able to send my smog certification to the DMV electronically and provided me a copy for my records. The price was very affordable, almost 20 bucks cheaper than the place I used to go to and they had a Yelp coupon for $10 off! The only negative I noted about this place was the parking lot. There are several businesses/car shops in this center, leaving no vacant parking spaces at all. But, it ended up being fine. I double parked and went into the shop. Steve took my car in and started working on it almost immediately.  I definitely recommend this place!

This place services fast! I came in around 11am and was out the door in like 15 mins. Price was like $40 (after the check-in yelp discount). I like that this place is quick, has a few chairs for people to sit and wait, and up front about pricing and expectations. The entrance is on Hawthorne Blvd, but yelp directions takes you some place else. I don't know because I didn't follow it. I took at look at google street view first prior to coming here. Parking lot is tiny, but at least they have a few desginated spots. They take credit cards and cash =)

Similar experience as everyone else. Steve was extremely courteous and professional.  He started on the smog inspection right away. Done in 15 minutes.  $39.99 with Yelp check-in discount.   A little hard to find. It's off of Hawthorne -- my GPS led me to the back of the building,  where there is no entrance. They also do registration and other DMV services for a fee,  but saves you a trip to the DMV! #timeismoney

I should have listened to them and paid the extra $30 for them to do the vehicle registration and stickers, but I needed coffee and didn't get that he was pointing it out because I was smogging so close to the due date (1 day... Doh!). I went to the DMV and did the kiosk but am now in a loop with having to resubmit a different form and waiting for my stickers. My dad is super picky about automotive stuff and sent me here. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes and they were super nice. $39.99 after Yelp discount.

I like to think that I don't give out 5 stars easily, unless the establishment truly impresses me, but this place deserves every star I can give. Pretty much everything I read on Yelp was true. The guy that helped me was Steve. This guy knew what he was talking about and was very relating! I had a great experience. In and out in like 30mins or so. Smog test, VIN verification, and registration!  You should go to this place before the DMV, they probably know tips and tricks to help you get through any car processes you might encounter! Parking sucks but when I got there he said I could just pull into one of the bays and I was basically serviced right then.  Make sure to mention Yelp or the online coupon!  I wish I could give more stars because I feel like this place does right and actually tries to help the customer. I went in needing help and I left completely satisfied. I even remember thinking to myself - 'wow, they really did everything they could to ensure I had a good experience.

I brought my car in because I was leaking coolant. They did a full inspection on the car and told me I was leaking from my water pump and even notified me about an oil leak and told me to kee an eye on it. They were very helpful in explaining what repairs I needed and got the job done in a timely manner. The staff was very polite and even gave me an estimate on the other repairs I needed. I recommend coming here for any repairs needed! Awesome place with a great staff.

Smog & Registration offers a quick and efficient solution to the car troubles of many. My vehicle was due for a smog check for the first time and I saw them on Yelp. Ever since the beginning, starting from the inquiry to actually waking in, these guys have made it simple for me.  I was quoted a 30 minute wait for my smog check. I was able to get in and out of there in 20. They also took care of my DMV paperwork. There's a $30 fee, but it beats waiting in line at the DMV honestly.  I'll be back here if I ever need to be. They're very helpful and work super fast. Make sure to use the Yelp coupon if you're getting a smog check!

Amazing, professional, and kind! I went to another business, but they advised me that they were out of stickers. I looked these guys up but had questions that they answered easily by phone. I rushed over - omg...so helpful and even offered beverages. They took care of everything as I just sat and waited. And the wait was no more than 10 minutes. Could have been less, but I didn't even notice since it was so quick and efficient. I would def use them again. It's hard to find a business with people who leave you feeling like they are trustworthy and not trying to upsell anything.

Went there for a smog check because I was trying to transfer the title of my truck. I was told that I needed to change the oxygen sensor for my smog to pass, Steve was so sweet and helpful. He explained to me everything and explained to me that while it's always good to take care, it wasn't needed immediately nor was there an issue. He also said that since I brought in the part, he would only charge me for labor (not all places do that, they'll charge for the labor and the part even though you have it). He explained to me what was going on, why it's like that and gave me options that would help for the future. I appreciate him and will DEFINITELY come back.

I'm not a normal poster, but this place is so good that I felt it warranted my time. We have come here several times for auto smog. They are quick, and very nice. Reasonable prices. My husband realized they will actually issue the registration right there on sight after you pass, and you walk away WITH THE REGISTRATION AND STICKER, for a fee that includes what you would pay to the DMV. How great is that! (I've even seen them put the sticker on for a client, although I don't think that's in the normal service). I now have found out they do regular auto repair, and oil changes too. I have either not been paying attention or they just do not upsell. They should. They have don't an oil change for me, they took pictures of concerns that they saw, but it was not at all a push or hard sell, just an alert. I love that. When I was waiting during my oil change, the owner or manager closed the waiting room door because it was cold and actually got a floor heater out to make it warmer in the waiting room for me. Who does that? That's the kind of care he shows to people, and it assures me that they care about people and service. Sorry to go long here but really worth a visit. Really great full service place. They are my new favorite. My brother and father both owned their own auto repair place, I overheard a price this shop gave another customer for a brake job, and it was very reasonable. I'm done, great place, super great, can't say enough!

What would one do without Yelp?! Especially when you're new to town!

Anywho. Registration season was here and just when I was ready to pay online, DMV said I needed a smog check. Boo. So on to Yelp I went to look for the closest smog check place.

Lo and behold Yelp sends me this God-sent place where you can get your smog check done, renew your DMV registration, AND get your sticker in less than 15 minutes!!!

Now there is a $35 service fee for this (on top of reg fees plus smog check fees), but 100xs better than waiting for hours at DMV.

I also called in the morning to see if I needed an appointment on a Saturday, and the guy who picked up was so friendly and informative and to boot it all..no appointment needed!
